Welcome back, friends! After a much needed break from blogging, I'm back today to share a card using images and products from my MFT home. It's so nice to get my fingers ink again!
The fun part about papercrafting for me is figuring out new (to me) ways of using various products. Necessity certainly is the mother of invention. Often times I figure out things only to find out later that it's old news. This might be the case with this technique, but it was sure fun to discover as I was creating this card. Using VersaMark over stenciled and multi-inked images for heat embossing.
Taping the Mini Raindrops stencil down first to secure it, I sponged the Cornflower card stock over the stencil using Blueberry ink. After giving it a few moments to dry I used another sponge to apply VersaMark. I then removed the stencil. The next step was to apply clear detail embossing powder and heat with my Heat Tool. Lastly, I die cut the prepared card stock with the Cloud Shaker Window & Frame Die-namics (Window portion) and Wonky Stitched Rectangle STAX Die-namics.
I then die cut the Cloud Shaker Window & Frame Die-namics (Frame portion) using Smooth White card stock. I built a traditional shaker using foam mount tape and acetate on the already prepared raindrop panel and then adhered the frame for a finished look. After filling the shaker area I adhered a layer of Smooth White card stock to seal the shaker. I then mounted the finished layer to the card base with foam squares.
My Mini Misti was used to help get the perfect VersaMark Coverage for the sentiment. I first stamped the Aim for the Clouds sentiment with Blue Breeze ink. Next I inked the lower part of the sentiment with Blueberry ink. After letting it dry I stamped the image with VersaMark and embossed it with clear detail embossing powder. Because I was stamping with the Misti and had started off with my card stock squared with the corner of the Misti, I went back, placed the card stock back into it's spot and repeated that last step to really make the clear embossing stand out. The last step was to die cut the sentiment with the Essential Fishtail Sentiment Strips Die-namics and mount that to the card.
Try this variation: Sponge the stencil with different ink colors on white cardstock for a fun embossed rainbow or ombre look.
Thanks to my sweet friends at MFT for letting me guest design for them today! Head over to their blog to see what other neat project they are sharing.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
Thanks for poppying by, friends!
Yay! You are back! Love your cards. I wish you were back on the Papertrey team! You always had the best cards and the stamps you designed were so easy to use.
