First... let me share what inspired my newest POPPYprints stamp set. I'm, well... sort of frugal. I often say "we could be millionaires and I would still stop at a garage sale if it looked promising!". And, you know what? Frugality is VERY *In* right now... So I'm an *In* gal I guess. LOL! There are classes and online resources that are teaching people how to think frugally. To me, it's all about thinking outside the box... or looking to the past at what our grandmother's used to do when it wasn't so easy or convenient to buy something. My grandmother canned... like a crazy woman. (Thinking about her applesauce still makes me smile.) We have the worlds best neighbors. When we first moved here we were showered with bags of fruit from their trees, cherries and plums as well as fresh flowers straight from their gardens. It's inspiring. Just being thought of... to continue to be thought of by them. We tend to give veggies, Bath items, stamped cards, cookies and other food goodies. That's what this stamp set, Just For You, is all about... Giving!
Here are the details for all of the POPPYprints product that will be available through Papertrey Ink on May 15th!- Just For You
(51 stamps -$24) This stamp set is all about giving and creating for all of your friends and loved ones! Each image and sentiment fit into the sentiment circle and are interchangeable for maximum versatility! Crafters reach across lines and often multi-hobby. With this thoughtful set, you will be able to make custom tags, cards, packaging and gifts in an abundant amount of varieties. No worries if you don't want to make something to give... It's also perfect for giving purchased items. You will be able to create gift packaging from the heart that will truly set you apart!
- Mat Stack 2 Die- ($5) A unique label die that not only works with the circle sentiment from Just For You, but various tag sets and images that you already own!
- Eyelet Lace Die- ($7) Reminiscent of the border of my favorite lace... this die is extremely versatile, with a unique ability to create an expandable trim!
On to the fun stuff...I thought I'd show off some treats/food project today! Make sure to click on the photos for better detail!
The first project I'm going to share shows off a sweet Apple image in the set. Bake it Pretty is a great website for finding fun treats to make and bake! I was so excited when I found an Apple candy mold that they carried. They were lovely and sent me a few things to make them!
Check out the fun colors and apple flavoring! A complete product can be made with taste, visual beauty and smell! YUM!
What's nice about this is that molds are a re-usable resource!
The first thing to do with this mold is to paint the leaves in the mold using a clean paintbrush and the melted green candy melts. Two color molds are fun and pretty easy to use. It took me a while to get the 3-D fill right on this mold. I didn't snap a good photo of the filled mold though.
I created a little basket from Kraft and Rustic Cream cardstock for the candy to sit in.
Here you can see an inside view of it. Check out how fun that Eyelet Lace die cut is!
Here is a side view too.
Here you get a close up of the dotted leafy vine image. (there is actually a sentiment in Just For You that says "handpicked" and it fits perfectly across the curves!)
Before showing you the final project I wanted to show you how to extend the Eyelet Lace die to create any length of die cut. You will only be restricted by the length of your cardstock or felt.
The ends of this die are open... making it possible to align it again and keep trimming. The basket uses the whole 11" from my cardstock. I LOVE IT!
Here is the finished project!
You can see the circle sentiment here along with the apple and leaves image. AND just two of the amazing selection of sentiments that are included in the set!
Here is the front view... you can get a really good feel of the Mat Stack 2 die here too! Do you spy the newest Papertrey Ink color?
This is just perfect for any occasion! Want the basket pattern? Here ya go! Download Apple Bowl pattern
Here is a very silly video showing how to assemble the basket. Please keep in mind that I'm very loopy from lack of sleep (Ella had been up 4 nights in a row, multiple times, being sick... and I ended up getting a big cold/fever.) But hey, I made it so I might as well share... even if it's just for a good laugh! LOL! Oh... and an airplane makes a little noise too!
Next is a little quick bread that I made using these sweet little pans and bags from Bake it Pretty.
I was scrounging around my kitchen when I realized I had a craving for corn bread... Thank goodness for Costco and their Mixes! I used to be such a foodie... but time has become extremely tight and I have no problem embellishing mixes for gift breads. I threw in some Craisens, Nutmeg, Clove and sugar to sweeten it up more.... it was scrumptious. I didn't measure anything... just threw it in! Yummy!
Here is the side view of the packaging. Notice the bread image? How fun huh! I also included a couple hearts in the set... this is the larger dotted heart image. The polka dot circle is classic. It's sized to fit into the sentiment circle but I've been using it for so much more!
Notice the Scarlet Jewel Eyelet Lace die cut? I discovered that if I only peeked half of it out I got a different lace trim look.
I used a little Zip-dry to secure it to the back.
This die really has so many looks!
The Mat Stack 2 Die has some fun elements too. I thought I would show you the back of the label I made. I stitched on the buttons leaving long tails to tie into the bow. I also used the Blue Marvy Scalloped Circle Punch to add a little backing.
You can see here how it all comes together. Notice the homemade and bread sentiment!
These little loaves are a perfect gift for a neighbor...friend...teacher. Pretty much anyone. I think we will be making more for teacher gifts next month!
If you like cooking and making sweet treats to give... drop by the Bake It Pretty Blog for some fun ideas!
I can't wait to hear your thoughts on these new products! Any guesses as to what other sentiments or images are included?
Make sure to come back every day until the 15th for more projects using Just For You! Make sure to stop by these blogs for more sneak peeks! Nichole, Heather, Alli, Melissa, Dawn , Beth and Betsy!
