There are so many things I have to be thankful for this year... I sat here today pondering that. One thing stands out to me... something that's hard to explain... but is very real here in my life as life's trials seem to have hit top speed...
HOPE!
It seems that if I really stop and think... hope surrounds me. And that is a huge comfort! I was in a situation the other day that could have been viewed two ways. One way was despair. I could have chosen to see the damage and pain that had happened... or see things in another way, which I did. (and that was hard to do to be honest.) I saw healing and growth in the rubble of it all... and with that, HOPE! A tweak in my perspective helped me not dwell on the trial itself, but the power in overcoming that trial and even the blessings that can be found amidst the storm. Like the newly emerged sapling on the healing forest floor after a fire has taken it's toll... Hope's perspective changes all things. Hope has inspired, lifted, awakened and strengthened me. I am looking for hope now in everyday things. I have been finding that a little seed of hope can give me the same effect if I allow it to make a home in my heart. Something simple like when Ella is brings me books to read to Me, instead of me to her. My seed of hope is planted and grows knowing that she will overcome her little struggle with reading. While that is an itty bitty struggle in the big scheme of things for us right now.... the hope in it accumulates like single snowflakes in a flurry of winter's first snow... aiding a beautiful blanket of change.
May you find hope when you need it. I am thankful for HOPE!
Now... on that note and with Thanksgiving right around the corner... I want to give a little something to you! One of you that is. :) I am extremely thankful for you... and with I could give one to everyone!

First I am thankful for my freedom, and for those who put their lives on the line to keep me so. I am thankful for my family; my 87 year old mother and having her in my life each new day, for my sister and niece, who give me inspiration and courage when I find it hard to draw on them. And lastly, for each new day that unfolds its arms and embraces me.

I am most thankful for my family and close friends that bring so much happiness to my life. My sister has Huntingtons Disease and there is currently no treatment. She is 45 and brushing her teeth is a struggle. I have hope that those scientists will eventually find something to stop the progression of this disease. Without hope we are left with fear and frustration. I'm in Edgewood Washington, just South of Seattle.

What a wonderful and uplifting post. I am from Alabama. I actually am doing the thankful statement a day on Facebook through November. Today I posted that I am thankful that I can afford to afford a big grocery buying day. I actually grumbled to myself in the store that it was more crowded than I would have liked and that I should never go on stocking day (Mondays). But when the clerk asked me if I would like to contribute to the food bank when I was checking out that I became ashamed of myself. Some people are really struggling and here I was grumbling about actually having to make the trip. Although we are certainly not rich by any means, we are comfortable enough to go to the grocery store when we need to.

I am thankful that God has moved so powerfully in our family this year in my oldest son's autism. Life is hard, I wont ever deny it. But, my hope is found in Christ and that He has a plan for all of this and it is a good one.
Our family lives in the litte town of Corinth, Texas near Dallas. We are actually having a Fall this year and I love the cool but not cold weather we are having.

I am also thankful for living in Minnesota. I chose to move here, and shortly after moving here I met my husband and started down this road. I love Minnesota! (Don't love -40 but there are compensations!)

I was just thinking about this today - I am so thankful for my husband! We've partnered up the second half of this year in a way that we haven't since we got married almost 3 years ago. We're so excited about our future and feel so blessed to share it with each other! I'm also thankful for a wonderful job that supports my hobby, our amazing cat, Yoda, our families and our friends that enrich our lives on an ongoing basis!

I'm thankful for many, many things. As I read what others are thankful for; many of the having gone through much, much more than I it puts a new perspective on life. Sometimes I let small things irritate me. So I'm thankful for all of you that hopefully will make me a better person in the days to come and be happy with the blessed life (and healthy one). As it often happens we often need a little smack in the head to realize how truly blessed we are.
Thanks to all of you that have posted and those to you that will post and I will continue to read.

I am most thankful for my family. What a gift they are - one I can receive every day. I appreciate your post on how your perspective can change a situation. Abraham Lincoln said that "most people are about as happy as they decide to be" and I really agree with that. We cannot control most events - the only area of control we really have is how we choose to respond to events.
God bless you and yours!
P.S. As a confirmed couch potato, I could really use these stamps! Thanks so much for offering them!

Aww, that was really lovely to read! Thanks for sharing your insights!
I am thankful for my children and the love they give me and for every day they are healthy (as both are chronically ill). I live in the UK but am actually German. I moved to London nearly 9 years ago for work and haven't looked back as I found myself surrounded by lovely people who have become close friends. Something else to be thankful for...
Hope your perspective stays as it is and you'll have always hope!
Love,
Alex

I am thankful for my husband of 20 years and the fact that we are aging in the same way - not so very gracefully!!
I am thankful for the health of my children. I get very frustrated so often with the trials of raising two stubborn and opinionated teenagers - but they are strong and they are healthy.
I am thankful that I have a caring and loving church community.

This year I am thankful for a faith filled family. We have a 13 year old cousin who just received a bone marrow transplant. He is doing great and it has been such an inspiration to watch him and his family put faith first and be thankful for every single milestone along the way. We definitely have many blessings to be thankful for this holiday season.

Thanks for posting this, Lisa. I'm not sure what you and your family are going through right now, but I know after reading this that we probably have a lot in common. I'm sure our stories are different, but the emotion feels the same. (you can read a little about my situation here:
http://stampedinhisimage.blogspot.com/2009/10/wftl-cards-when-i-pray.html)
I have been taught SO much this past year. Faith & hope have given me strength that I didn't know was possible. I've learned to look at situations in a whole new light. Perseverance builds character! And... I know I've grown a thankful heart. I look at things in a new light & am so thankful for the many blessings of life!
I hope your family has a wonderful Thanksgiving! :)

Hi Lisa! Love your post and just leaving a comment because I want to (not to win the prize because I already have these GREAT sets)!
I am thankful for a lot of things, but I'd like to share that I am thankful I have found something that I have a passion for in life and that's paper crafting. I remember that empty and missing filling and I feel like now I have a purpose, even if it is just making cards, I love it and I am so thankful that I have the ability and the time to commit to it and share it with others. The extra bonus is that the online crafting world allows me to meet so many great people such as yourself and share this passion!
Thanks for sharing your work with us; I'm also thankful for that!
Happy Thanksgiving, Lisa!!

I am thankful for my husband's support. I started a business last year and it's been growing little by little. He is there every step of the way offering everything from a helpful ear to acting as salesman extraordinaire. I've felt like throwing in the towel a few times, but he always calms me down and reminds me just how far I have come. I truly couldn't have made it without his support.
We live in Columbus, Ohio which also leads me to say I am extremely grateful for the thriving arts community in our city. The events and talented individuals in my area keep me inspired and motivated even when the future is overwhelming.
Whatever it is you are facing I hope you can work through it unscathed and grateful for all you have learned from your experiences. All the best!

Today I am thankful that my oldest stepson seems to finally be growing up, now that he is 24. He still has a lot more maturing to do, but it doesn't seem like the only person in the universe is him anymore and it's a nice change. I think he will soon make the move to be on his own and then my honey and I can enjoy the fact that we finally succeeded in raising him to a productive, responsible adult.

Secondly, I am thankful for my husband. He supports me, comforts me, and puts up with me! He treats me as a true equal and is so kind and loving. I couldn't ask for a better partner in life.

In South Africa we HOPE for so many things: PEACE and acceptance, of each other and our given situations: PROMISES that our Government will improve on the housing shortages, unemployment crisis and education upliftment: PROSPERITY for all, not just the select few and most of all, that the AIDS crisis will be brought under control and that there will be "HOPE" for our ill and dying people.
Hoping some of your awesome blog candy will wing it's way to South Africa!

Lisa, I discovered your blog after a visit to Memories in Bloom where I saw Papertrey for the first time. Your blog was the one that opened up the door to so many wonderful people and their blogs and their creativity. (All of the Papertrey ladies and Ashley Newell and Lizzie Jones, hello ladies!! ) I am thankful for that- you are an inspiring person and I look forward to your posts.
I am thankful for HOPE, and a positive attitude. Without those 2 things, I don't know that I'd have been able to hold myself and my family up this year. My husband and I have been facing the most difficult year, he was laid off (but thankfully is now working again), I lost my job (but still looking!). We are in the middle of bankruptcy and just found out I am pregnant. It is a blessing, and we are happy, but it is not the best timing. I am thankful that our 2 boys, 11 & 7, are so happy and excited about this new baby. I am thankful that through everything, my family is healthy and know we'll make it through this somehow.
I am thankful that I have an outlet for my stress, and yes it does help a little, I sell my creations to a local gift shop.
Thank YOU for the inspiring post today!!

Hi Lisa and Happy Thanksgiving. My Mother-in-law sent me a beautiful birthday card this week and one of the lines in it said that she loves that I am a person who always looks for the silver lining! Wow, that really meant so much to me, cause I do try to do that; it's what we all should do; if you look hard enough, (and have HOPE), you can usually find something good, even in the worst of times. That said, I'm grateful for having the best In-laws in the world and actually for my whole faimly! 99% of us all live here in New England, within 100 miles of each other!

Thank you for the chance to add one of these awesome sets to my stamp collection, and for your beautiful post and testimony about hope! I think your post made the first thing to come to my mind that I'm thankful for is my membership in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and all the blessings that come from living the Gospel! I live in NorCal, but my son is living up your way now and hope to be able to spend more time in that beautiful part of the west!!

This year I am thankful to be alive. I fell 10 ft. down from our attic to the cement garage floor on 10/9, every doctor I've seen say I'm lucky to be alive. Thankfully, all I have is a badly broken right foot. I always land on my feet you know! I live in a subrurb of Minneapolis, MN.

Wow, Lisa, what a powerful and inspiring blog post. This year, I am especially thankful for my husband. Like so many other people, we've had a rough year, but his unwavering commitment is helping us move forward. Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family.

Thank you so much for your reminder of hope. I know this has already been said, but I cannot think of any better reason to be thankful. I am thankful for a happy, healthy family! I am so honored to get to be a stay-at-home mom, watching my children grow to be all that God has called them to be, while my husband provides for our family with a job that I could never say thank you enough for. Thanks for making me take time to think about it :)in Kansas City, KS.

After a year and a half of unemployment my Husband has a job!! I am thankful for the job and thankful that I was able to work during the last year and a half. We never "wanted" for anything, except maybe new stamps cuz that budget item when out the window! (food, gad and rent are alittle more important! ;-)) In regards to what area of the country? well that's changing soon. We're moving from Missoula, MT to Seattle, WA next Monday! Yippee! We're going to miss our friends here but we have family there and I've always wanted to live in the Pacific NW! It would be really fun to win these stamps sent to celebrate my new home and our new life!! Thanks for the chance, Lisa!!! (I'm thankful for you and your blog also!)

Lisa, what a beautiful post. It's so true that our perspective can truly change a situation around us.
I have a lot of friends and family that are currently very sick so I am most grateful for my health. I am also very grateful to be a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
I live in Colorado and love visiting your blog. Thanks for the chance to win your two fabulous sets.

It's always good to hear what 'stamping friends' are experiencing from day to day, especially when it's encouraging. I've found that gratitude has the power to change your whole attitude. There's always something, sometimes a very small thing that one can be thankful for in even the worst day. And when you have that mindset, it's much easier to choose to live your life in a joyful manner. I have so many things to be grateful for, including my family, my home and even the country I was born and live in. We often forget that those of us who are born in North America have a huge advantage over most of the world where the norm is having to scrape enough together to feed yourself and your family. We are born in a rich countries on this continent and though they have their own problems, we still have a huge advantage over the majority of the world. Thanks for sharing some of your joys, Lisa.
I'm one of your fans from north of the border, in Alberta, Canada, living on a farm in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains northwest of Calgary.

Down here in Texas, I am thankful for my sweet, healthy husband, and my sweet, healthy son. They are the joy in my life.
I have much trepidation in celebrating Thanksgiving, however, because we are awaiting news of medical tests on my father. Praying that I have a whole lot more to be thankful for on Thursday as we celebrate at his house, but honestly, it's not looking good. I come to your blog daily for inspiration...in more ways than stamping. Thanks!

I live in Tennessee, and I am truly grateful for my family, and the fact that so far both my husband and I still have our jobs, and our family is healthy and (I hope) happy. I'm grateful that I have a husband that adores me, and two beautiful children that adore me (when they want something).
I know how very fortunate we are.

What a lovely post, and it renewed my feelings of hope too. I am so thankful for my husband and two sweet little boys. I am having a difficult third surprise pregnancy, and my hope often diminishes and the depression can be crushing. I've never been in poor health until now, and I worry all the time about our new baby. My husband and little boys have been so helpful, encouraging and loving to help me with everyone. My wonderful co-workers are a blessing for their understanding too.
Thanks for all you share with us!
It's cold and blustery in Reno, NV - but that just reminds me of Christmas!

Hi...
My name is Lisa and I'm very thankful for my wonderful husband, family and friends...all of whom play such an important part in my life...making my world a better place.
I'm thankful that we're all relatively in good health (with a few bumps in the road here and there) and that we each possess the will and ability to believe, hope and stay strong during those times that may be a bit more trying.
I'm thankful that I learned early on that each new day we're given is truly a gift...and something that should never be taken for granted.
And I'm thankful to be able to live in beautiful Southern Oregon...surrounded by mountains... where I'm able to experience the beauty and wonders of God and Mother Nature every single day.
Lisa...I love your blog and while I'm relatively new to it, I check it everyday without fail. Thank you for sharing your talents and thoughts with us.
And to everyone...I wish you a very happy and blessed Thanksgiving.
and I'm blessed to live in beautiful Southern Oregon...something in and of itself that I'm extremely thankful for.
I'm also very thankful for my wonderful husband, family and friends...all of whom play such an important part in my life...making my world a better place.

I am thankful for the life I have w/ my husband and children and that though we are far from family, we have friends to rely on like family. I am thankful that a work training session is bringing me to where my parents are, right before my dad is to have cancer surgery and that I am able to stay and be there for them for a few days. I am in central British Columbia, Canada.

It's funny that you ask this today...I have been thinking a lot lately about blessings in my life. I work in profession where many sad things happen to people and families. I have been trying to keep some perspective and balance but sometimes it is very difficult. I am most thankful for FAITH - to know that God's hand is touching everything happening in this world.
Papercrafting is my pleasant diversion from my serious work. Thank you so much for the chance to win your stamp sets! I love the cat image in the additions set - I think he is just fabulous!
By the way, I am from Birmingham, Alabama.

Thanks for the opportunity to win those awesome stamp sets. Love them!!
I am so thankful for family. For the first time in several years my whole family is living within 45 minutes of one another. This makes for great fun when we all get together as there are 10 cousin ages 7 and under. I am also thankful that we all get along and really enjoy one another's company. I often hear of families who can't stand to be around one another and thank God that that isn't our family!

Thank you for reminding us what this season is all about! I am thankful today for being saved and forgiven of my sins from Jesus Christ MY Lord and Savior. It is only because of this that I can do anything and overcome anything and have that hope that you speak of.
Happy Thanksgiving!!

Hi Lisa! Happy Thanksgiving. I am thankful for all the big things like my family and our health but also for the little things, one of which is Skype. This allows me to stay in touch with my parents and my brother and sister and their families who all live in Ireland while I am here in Aurora, IL in the good ole USA :) Thanks for the chance to win some of your fabulous stamp sets.

I live in Sacramento, CA, and I am thankful that my husband and I are both working, and my that my 14yr old son is doing well in his first year of high school. Even though we are upside down on our house, we are not planning to sell and we are able to make our payments, so we can ride out this bad economy. I am truly thankful for that!
And a big thanks to you for offering us a chance to win the wonderful stamp sets, and for sharing your awesome talents with us on your blog!
Happy Thanksgiving to All!!

I am in northwest Georgia, about an hour north of Atlanta. I have MUCH, and I do mean much, to be thankful for. By far though, I am thankful for God's lavish love and grace he pours on me everday. I agree with you about hope...it's all about perspective and how you choose to look at the place God has you. I always say that God wastes nothing, especially the difficult circumstances He allows us to go through.
Thanks for your generosity! Blessing you and your family!!
