Welcome! I'm so excited to share a little bit with you today using my newest stamp set for Papertrey Ink! (Available June 15th) It's near and dear to my heart... and I hope you will love it as much as I do!
Heavenly Medley is a lovely faith based set just right for those whose faith is centered on Christ. It celebrates the sweet, comforting sentiments and imagery from various Christian denominations and Latter-day Saint hymns. Perfect for creating cards, scrapbook pages and gifts! Heavenly Medley includes 16 sentiment and image stamps and will retail for $15 for the set. A perfect set to express your faith while creating for those special people in your life!
Today I thought it would be nice to share the sentiment that inspired the entire set! (See THIS post for the story of the Baby blankets...it's an ongoing project that our ward does for the local hospital.)
I Am a Child of God (click to hear the Children's Songbook Hymn.) This sentiment is so special... I think that if we can think of, and remember that, all of the people around us are children of God... we might be less quick to judge and more willing to love and serve. The other thing I think of when I hear this sentiment is very personal... but I wanted to share. My self esteem has had it's up and downs in life. When I was really young I built my self esteem on outward things... job, talent, achievements, stuff. It was when I was about 22 that I realized that those things were not something that I could build a solid sense of self on... but knowing that I am a Daughter of God was. To this day, when I am feeling low or unsure, I hear this song and know that our Heavenly Father loves me... and how great that it! I know he loves you too!
OK, OK.... I'm wiping my eyes and getting on to the good stuff! I just HAD to make a fun baby gift using this sentiment...
I went to the local cross stitch store and matched up some embroidery floss to some PTI cardstock to create this sweet onesie. This took a little time to stitch but I was so excited with how it turned out!
First I placed a clip board into the shirt. (it's a 6-9 month.)
Next I stamped my image in DYE INK that will wash out. I chose pink since that was the color of thread I was mainly using. One reason I use dye in is because if I don't like the alignment of the image I can just wash it then use it again. I certainly don't want to throw away a onesie! :) Next I just used a back stitch and followed the image as a pattern. It took me about an hour to complete. I used to embroider a lot when I was younger and it was neat getting a few memories as I worked. One thing I need to mention is that I used 3 strands of the floss threads (taken out of the main strand) and not a whole strand for the words... 2 strands for the stars. A full strand would have over powered the image.
I wanted something sweet and simple for gifting this sweetie in. It immediately occurred to me to grab my lone paint can and see if it fit. I was jumping for joy when it did I tell ya! It looks so fresh and clean in there too! To create the sentiment to match I masked the stars out then stamped the sentiment in Raspberry Fizz ink. After cleaning the stamp, I inked each star the with the coordinating color using my Cube version of my Papertrey Inks and stamped! It was easy to see where the stars went because of it being a clear stamp!!!
Here is the sweet ensemble together... side by side! (click on the photo to see a larger view!)
In contrast... here is the image in black then markers are used to color in and over the images.
I also added some glitter to the stars for some extra sparkle.
O wanted to point out that this sentiment isn't exclusive by ANY MEANS to babies. I plan on creating frames for each of my children with this sentiment somehow included. It's also PERFECT for scrap pages for people of any age. This is just one of the very versatile images in Heavenly Medley!
I bet you've already thought of a way to use this image in your life. I'd love to hear about it! I'd also love to hear your thoughts on a set like this. I know it's not going to be for everyone, but if it's something that you feel is missing is someone elses life you might consider spreading the word about it's availability!
Make sure to check out these wonderful Papertrey creations by the lovely Lauren, Kelly & Nichole ... they have some pretty amazing things up their sleeves!
See you tomorrow when I share another tidbit from Heavenly Medley... thanks for poppy-ing by!
This is precious. The stamping and embroidery is cool - I'm going to try that! Can't wait to see more. :)

I am so excited for the new set!!! I already told my friend about it. She's been excited to try PTI for a while, but hasn't taken the plunge, yet. I was teasing her that she has to try it now (she has 3 kids that haven't been baptized yet, and is pregnant right now, so I told her she'd get a lot of use out of it). I can't wait to see the whole thing. I am sure it is fantastic, and there will be a lot of people excited about it!

I'm so glad to see someone doing Christian themed stamp sets. It's long overdue. I can think of a million uses. Our church is making cards to sell at our fall fair, and this one would be perfect (even without seeing all the images yet).

Lisa this set is absolutely perfect. I can't wait to see more. I would absolutely use the Child of God sentiment for every single loved one in my life. What a blessing to receive a note, card or gift with those words. I'm sure the rest of the set will be just as uplifting. Thanks!

I love this song! It has to be one of my favorites of all the children's hymns. I am presently one of the nursery teachers in my ward, and every Sunday, just spending time with those beautiful little children, my spirit is renewed and my testimony strengthened. Thank you so much for creating this in stamps. I can't wait to see the rest of the set.

Oh, I am so excited about this set! I fell in love with the sentiment when you blogged about it last year...and I think it works for more than just babies: I still tell my 16 year-old blind son (who it seems, was just a baby yesterday), "No matter what happens, remember, YOU are a child of God!"
Thank you so much for this set, and for sharing your heart in your blog.
