Here we are at day 3 of the countdown for my newest stamp set, Let Freedom Ring!(available at Papertrey Ink on May 15th.) I am SO excited about the ensemble I am sharing with you today! It's been a fun past few days of sharing... today's project feels even more close to home though! We celebrate the 4th of July every year with a few different traditions. Camping is huge for us but it's very dependant on the weather and what day of the week that the 4th falls on. Barbecue's are HUGE at my house. (might be because I love it when Chris grills! yum!) I thought I would put together a few things that I would typically create for a get together at my house for a 4th of July Barbecue!
Kids, Kids and MORE kids! We enjoy getting together with 2 or three families that have kids of similar ages. What kiddo doesn't love licorice straws?!
I used the the 4th sentiment circle image and the celebration sentiment together to create the a decorative stake. The licorice ends are all trimmed off ready for sipping lemon aid through.
An inexpensive Terracotta pot came in handy. I painted and stamped it for a fun tabletop container that adds to the patriotic feel. One thing to note about stamping with paint... don't expect the clean lines that you get when stamping ink on paper. I actually like that... it seems more "real" feeling... like I hand painted it.
When I was browsing for inspiration I saw this link. I just HAD to try to create my own pinwheel!
There is a little punched star in the center that has been stamped with Background Basics: Text Style (also available May 15th) I used Webster's Pages, A Sweet Life, pattern papers for this ensemble. I just love the "at home" feel of the entire line. I love the colors that were chosen for the paper too. The ink I used was a pretty good match, making the overly stamping look like it was part of the paper naturally!
I wish you could see the detail of the vintage vase I found while antiquing about a month ago. If you click on the photo you might be able to spy the stars. I was elated to find it and it was marked way down to $4. (giddy!) A PERFECT accent piece for this ensemble too! It's fun to just clip the clothespin pinwheel right to it!
No, I did not bake these cookies. LOL! I went to get some patriotic sprinkles and none were available here... but they had these. I love these and caved... I mean... they were for a photo right? ;) (the fact that I scarfed several after I got "the" shot is irrelevant huh!)
I wanted to point out that the mini sentiments are sized to fit and work with the 4th of July circle perfectly! (There is happy, celebrate and barbecue that I used with this ensemble and birthday from yesterday works too!) It's incredibly convenient to be able to just punch a bunch out. I can totally see mass producing these in just a few moments.
Isn't this paper fun! My white picket fence is incredibly similar which is probably why this stood out for a backyard barbecue invitation! I love that they have trims to match... it makes it super easy to coordinate! And, check out those Papertrey Ink Vintage Buttons! *heart pounding* I looooove them!
Can't you just see a patio table decorated with these in your own backyard!? Kids running around with licorice red smiles & friends and family enjoying each other!
I also stamped a little paper cup in a snap to add some coordination and pizazz. I know it's simple but for me it's more realistic that a cup band.
There were several other ideas that I wanted to execute for you but I'm drastically behind due to a sad loss for our family. (I will share a post about that when the countdown is over.) Here are a few of those ideas...
- Stamped labels for guests to write what their food items are. like "Sweet Baked Beans". Perfect for those who pot luck it.
- A Memory book that guests sign and share a story and even contribute a family photo. Perfect for family reunions and easily made to coordinate with this ensemble!
- A patriotic swag made with the stars and stripes to hang on my fence gate.
Nichole is featuring Let Freedom Ring on her blog today....with a contest too! Lauren's and Melissa's blogs continue to overflow with Papertrey goodness... make sure to stop by.
I see you tomorrow for day 4.... and more fun projects with Let Freedom Ring! (Wow, only two days left!)
Thanks for poppy-ing by!

This is wonderful, the whole thing. I love it and I will try to do some of this in my class. I teach at a local senior center where we make things to decorate tables, etc plus our cards we donate to a local charity that gives goodie bags to Hospice patients and shut-ins. We love it. All our supplies are donated scraps from other card makers and we have so much fun putting things someone thought of as trash into treasures to make people smile. Now I have to collect 4th of July papers etc, but with the amount of time you have given us, I think I can do it. Thanks for the foresight to publish this so far in advance of the 4th...

This is beautiful. It makes me want to go all out for the 4th this year. We actually have family close this year so it would be fun to do something fun like this for a celebration. Plus, who doesn't love licorice straws. I am way beyong my kid years but I still wouldn't mind a licorice straw :)
