Here we are with the beginning of May... time continues to freakishly move at the speed of light and it's time again for another Papertrey Ink Senior DT challenge! This may just be my favorite one yet too. We were asked to take a photo or find an image that inspired us to make a spring themed card/project.
I love spring in our area! We are lucky enough to have the Skagit Tulip Festival just over the bridge (15 minutes away). I try to go every year to bathe in the color of the tulip fields. This year I was pleasantly surprised at the color coordination that they placed the tulips in. This color scheme seemed like a card screaming to be created! Here is that field...
*sigh* : ) Notice the colors? The sunlight make the green look similar to Spring Moss... then there's Hibiscus Burst, Pure Poppy, Raspberry Fizz and Plum Pudding! Ecstatic I tell you! I loved taking the photos that I did... and wished I had snapped even more! (I'll try to share more on a later post.)
I decided to make my card using that same color pattern above.... but turned it vertically. I also wanted to simulate the little dots that the tulips seemed to make in the fields. Background Basics: Spots & Dots was great because of it's varying patterns.... just like the tulips HUH!!! The Multi-Sprig image from Life added the floral content.(I used tone on tone ink and cardstock for the panels.)
I love how it turned out! The sentiment is from Mega Mixed Messages....I love the mixture of fonts that are in this sentiment too.... so smile worthy! I just inked up each side on the two different color ink pads to split the colors. I also used New Leaf, Hibiscus Burst and white vintage buttons.
So what inspires YOU during spring?
Make sure to check out what Nichole has going over on her blog (contest and challenge!)... and the rest of the Sr. Dt too!
Thanks for poppy-ing by!

What beautiful card!!! I thought that you lived in Bellingham, but maybe you live in Anacortes? I used to live in LaConner (Sedro Woolley, now) and loved every minute of my morning drive to work during when the daffodils and tulips were in bloom!

I think I must have been at the same tulip field! I remember seeing those colors. I think I live very neary you...just East 15 minutes from the tulips.
And Toni...we might be neighbors! Isn't that weird...a small world!
We are having a ladies' tea party tomorrow morning at His Place Church and I'm so inspired by your previous post's "tea" card that I'm going to go make a few as a thank you gift for the event coordinator!
