It's so fun to collaborate great stamp sets together in a project... and that's what I get to do today! Life (my design) and Mother (Nichole's design) are just lovely together... both become available through Papertrey Ink on March 15th.
I chose to make a coordinating card and altered stainless steel Travel Tumbler.
I was thinking how with the economy more and more people are making their beverages at home rather than buying Starbucks or a drive through. (BTW... my favorite Starbucks item is Caramel Apple Cider.. a great alternative for those of us who don't drink coffee.) My personal favorite that I make from home is Licorice spice Herbal Tea by Stash. I love that I can drink it without any sugar and it's super sweet! YUM! Isn't this a great way to give a handmade gift... something that can be used over and over again!
It's really easy to make too... there is an insert inside that you pull out and use to trace onto what ever cardstock you want. Here is what I came up with for my tumbler.
You can add more bulk... even this buttons if you want because there is a gap that facilitates that... very cool. I used various markers directly on the stamps from Life, then huffed on them to re-moisten them, to stamp the images on it. Make sure to click on the photo to see all the fun detail!!!
Here is the finished tumbler... A little ribbon and a tag set it apart as a perfect Birthday gift. (You can use the Happy Mother's day stamp in the Mother stamp set instead if you want)
Isn't that flourish FUN!
Here is the card photographed from two different angles. I actually pulled the scalloped edge out some after sewing it to the card. I like the shadow it added.
I have to be open and say that Mother projects are hard for me to make. I wont go into detail... but I thought that some of you might be in the situation where you are estranged from your mom or she has passed away. It can be very hard during Mother's day. I have found great joy in friends who are like mothers to me... much like in the Novel/movie, The Secret Life of Bees. One took me under her wing and shared her love of God in a mothers way, has loved me unconditionally...and was willing to tell me to get my act in gear when I needed it! These are true life, lifetime friends! So if you are like me... celebrate those phenomenal women... and celebrate their nurturing soul and Mother in them!
I hope you have enjoyed today's projects... they were a blast to design and create! It's so fun to stamp with my own stamps... but in all honesty it's even more moving to see other's use them! Just wait until you see what the Papertrey Design Team members have been making using Life!!!
Make sure to check out these ladeis for all the fun stuff they have on their blogs today! Becky, Betsy, Dawn, Debbie, Geny , Heather, Lauren, Melissa, Michelle, Niki, Melissa B and Nichole!
I Have to say... my heart swells when I read your comments... THANK YOU SO MUCH for sharing yourself and thoughts with me!!!and...Thanks for Poppy-ing by!

I love it! I am loving your stitching as of late...so glad you got the machine out...it's tempting me! Your curvy stitching is amazing, did you just wing it or did you pencil a line first? mine won't be nearly so great....

Mother's Day is difficult for me, as I celebrate my Mom who was also my best freind, who I know is celebrating in heaven without pain and suffering... knowing that, I CAN celebrate Mothers Day... because she was such a gift and blessing to me from our God!!

Your project is my favorite!! I was leaning a bit towards Nichole's jewelry tin, as it combines two of my favorites: beads and tins! But your travel mug is so elegant, yet so personalized, it is just fabulous. I am going to have to order some of those to do for my friends and family. thanks for such a great idea, and such a versatile stamp set.

Lisa,
While I have truly enjoyed looking at the projects and memories shared by the other artists, yours touched me just as much. My mom passed away in 1994 and Mother's Day is a difficult day for the fact that I cannot share it with her. I do celebrate the other women in my life, but it's still hard. I absolutely love and adore what you have shared here! In fact, I do know a special mom in my life that this would be absolutely perfect for.
Thank you for your wonderful projects and talents. You are a blessing to us all!

Hey! I love your project, but even more than that, I love that you were so honest about Mother's Day. It can be so hard for so many. Thanks for sharing that. I can remember being in church on Mother's Day once and someone praying about all the different ways in which it can be a tough day. Blessings to you! Thanks for all you do!

Hi Lisa,
Your projects are ALWAYS the best. You are truly gifted. Thanks for sharing a little alternative to everyone else's Mother's Day projects. This is a tough day for me too, but I have been blessed to have had many "Moms" that have loved & guided me throughout my life. Thanks for all you do.
Posted by: Karlie | March 14, 2009 at 09:03 PM
I love your work and have avoided looking at any Mother's Day posts/stamp set from PTI's release since Mother's Day is very difficult for me. In fact, yours is the only post I've looked at. Thanks for sharing and giving me the idea to celebrate and honor the women in my life who are like mothers to me. Thank you again.
Posted by: Martha | March 20, 2009 at 03:42 AM
Thank you for your lovely tumbler, tag and card, but thank you even more for sharing your story. I had a loving mother that I lost to cancer in 1988. I was married at the time and my MIL was wonderful to me. My dad was very lonely and married the next year, and she was good to me and we loved each other. I took care of my MIL by living with her in her home and as I cared for her, I also gained her blind cousin to care for. They are all gone now, the cousin being the last in March of this year. So, I am very lucky in that I have had four mother figures in my life that I love.
