I'm excited that I get to help showcase this fun new set by Melissa Bickford! Background Basics: Retro will be available through Papertrey Ink on Feb. 15th. I love Melissa's style and this set doesn't disappoint.
There are so many fun possibilities with the different background strips... my favorite on it the one I used for these patterned flowers...
It's fun to change the appearance of a flower by layering a pattern onto it. It was pretty quick and easy too. I just created a reverse mask... to protect the outside of the poppy image before stamping the background strip over it. I can reuse this paper several times to mass produce cards if I want to as well. :)
Here is the full card... it was so fun to make!
I LOVE how the Vintage Cream ink POPS on the Pure Poppy ink and Cardstock! I can't tell you how excited I am out Papertrey coming out with more Background stamps! The strip image is going to be SO handy! Just wait until you see the entire set... It's getting a home on my desk next to Polka Dot Basics for sure!
I've been craving an Ikea trip... for some reason this card feels very Nordic.... silly me huh! It wasn't my intention to begin with but I like the warm feel that evolved.
Make sure to check out Nichole's, Melissa's, Heather's , Dawn's and Lauren's Blog to see what beautiful projects they've created!
Thanks for poppy-ing by! (still giggling over that!) :)

Totally awesome! Love how you combined the solid images from Remember (my fave set of the moment!) with the new background builders.

OK - now that you say that, it does look Nordic! Ohhh I'm so jealous you have an IKEA!! I love this card - love that tattered look to it - just really quite nice.

I love how you used the stripe and the flower background strips together in this card. And of course I'm still giggling about your "poppy-ing by" too.

I hear you! I'm going to IKEA on Friday since my location (Seattle) has some great specials going on this weekend. I'm actually going to pick up something to help organize my craft area. Reading all the PTI design team blogs has really inspired me to get back to stamping on a regular basis.
BTW, I love, love, love the card. Thanks for showing me what it means to "mask" something when creating a card.

Beautifully executed, Lisa....doesn't that sound weird? What I mean to say is this...this card reminds me of a composer gathering up musical notes and putting them all together to create one unified and beautiful instrumental piece...does that make sense?
In real life terms....beautiful card :)

Gorgeous card! I love the colors and everything about it, but most especially the adorable patterned flowers. :D I've got to try that with the stamps I already have, but you better believe that this new set is going to be mine too. lol

This is soooo cool, Lisa. Your poppy set is one of my favorites, I can never tire of what you do with it. And any ideas to get me to use it even more, is always welcome.

That is a really beautiful card! Red and brown together usually feel too "warm" for my tastes, but I love the way even a small amount of cream makes it look crisp, and fresh =] It does have a Nordic look to it, but it also reminds me of picking apples on a sunny fall day =]
