I'm pretty sure I shared this a while back... but I pulled the post because the box got picked up for publication in Heart & Home Magazine. Enough time has now past that I can re-post it... just in time for cold and flu season. :)
The girls piano teacher had been really sick and I thought it would be fun to gather goodies for her. It was so cool to see her smile when the girls handed it to her. *Warm Fuzzies*
Ricola and Emergen-C are what I use when feeling under the weather. I was glad they fit into the PTI small gable box I had on hand.
I can see using this same layout and just mixing up the colors and focal icon for different seasons. Spooky Sweets has that fun spider and Faux Ribbon has the rest of the images.
So? Wanna hear something funny? Chris, my hubby, had a loaner car from the dealership while they took car of some maintenance on his Pilot... a Honda Element. Well, he came home to get me to run it into Burlington to return it and pick up his car, which is 30 minutes away. He left the loaner Element running and stepped out, shut the door and started to the house. CLICK! Yep, the doors locked. He walked in and was flabbergasted with himself... I was shocked! Chris is a very together and on top of it guy... mistake like this are unheard of for him... I said "That's a Lisa thing to do... Not a Chris thing!" He had no clue how it happened. He had to drive into Burlington with our Civic, pick up the extra Key, come back and open the car then we had to turn right around and return it back into Burlington, I drove the Element and he drove our Civic that needed a little work! It totally wasted his evening... mine too a little. Well, I got into the Element to drive it and a few moments later the doors AUTOMATICALLY LOCKED!!! I opened the door back up and shut it again to see if it really did it all by itself and wouldn't you know it.. IT DID! Apparently the Element, when the engine is on, self locks! I can't imagine how many times this has happened to people. ..it's CRAZY! I leave my car running in the driveway to warm up in the winter or to run back into the house to get something... nuts I tell ya! Chris was relieved that it wasn't him... I think he thought he was going nutters.
Have you ever had something crazy happen to you with your car?
My old car, a Grand Am, you could program the locks to automatically lock. Mine were set to lock once you drover over a certain mph. I was once driving my MIL's car and had just a key - not the "clicker." Her alarm went of when I was in a Walmart parking lot. I had to sit in the car and read the manual to figure out how to shut it off without the clicker! (Put the key in and turn it on/off/on/off/on/off - how would you know?!)

Our truck has automatic door locks situated on the door, on a ledge our springer spaniel has numerous times since stood on the ledge to watch out the window and has either locked or unlocked the doors. While hunting my husband left the keys in the truck stepped out side to look at something and Toby locked the door. He had to walk miles to use a phone to get our son to bring him keys. Ann Lind

Awww, poor Chris! My Honda Accord had a locking feature BUT, it didn't lock until you put it in gear; once I got used to it, I liked that feature; I always felt a little safer driving home at night with my doors locked! I'm surprised that all models don't wait until you put them in gear to lock...makes more sense!

Now I HAVE locked the car while it was warming up...STUPID! No spare either. It's hard to pay someone for help for just being blonde! :) Cute box!

Well, I locked my keys in the car at the self car wash on a warm winter's day---with a really long line behind me once! Talk about an uncomfortable situation---with all those people staring at me and waiting for the police to get there to openit for me!

my daughter's new Ford does it. The minute you start it, put it in drive-LOCKED in! Which is fine-because I tell her to lock her doors the minute she sits inside the car. But she locked a little girl in her car summer before last. Lucky for her-I was close by with the extra key!

my expedition does not autolock, unless it's in drive--then all the doors lock and i love that for safety--thank goodness!!! i bet there are a TON of people that had Chris' exact situation happen to them!! how frustrating! (so was it out of gas by the time ya'll got back? oopsie!) my expedition is a 98, but after that, they started putting keypads on the outside next to the door handle. i REALLY like that idea and is a definite MUST on my next car!! no locking keys inside ever!!

We just bought an '04 Honda Odyssey. And I found out that if you unlock the doors with the remote, then don't open the doors right away, they automatically lock back up. At first I thought I was losing my mind. In our GMC truck the locks will lock automatically after you've driven a few minutes but never if is is just sitting idle. That seems like a bad thing to have on a car! I'd be locking myself out all the time!!

When I worked for the State of Utah doing child protection, I drove a State car from Provo to Salt Lake for a training. When I was leaving, it was dumping snow and had been for a while, so I naturally got out to scrape the windows and push the mountain of snow off the windshield and hood (after I started the car to warm it up). I didn't know it was self-locking either. Luckily I had my cell phone in my pocket, so I could call the Salt Lake motor pool (by way of my own office, since I didn't know the motor pool's number). Unfortunately, the motor pool in Salt Lake couldn't help me with my car (didn't have an extra key to it), because it was from the Provo motor pool. A security guard from the parking lot helped me break into the car, actually breaking the lock in the process. All the while it is snowing HUGE, fluffy flakes. After that incident, when they bought new cars, the cars didn't self-lock until you put it in Drive. Wise choice, I'm thinking.

My hubby's car is a Nissan Versa, we carpool with it to work to save $ on gas. I drop him off and go on to my work for the day. Well, I had an afternoon meeting one day last week that I drove to, when I got back, I parked. When I got out and hit the little button to lock it, instead of 2 little beeps, it did 3, which was strange, but I checked to make sure it locked and I went on into the office. 2 hours later, I go out to leave. I thought I heard a car near mine in the parking lot that was sitting idle, but didn't see any people around. I get in and turned the ignition, to find out it was already running! For 2 hours! It was idling so quietly that I had no idea it was on when I parked. Shhh! Don't tell him please! Good thing that car is really good on gas mileage!

nice idea with the box.
I've heard stories like yours with cars. I'm so afraid I'll do it with the kids buckled up. So whenever I get out or go around the car to get in after securing them, I make sure I open a window. At least if the door locks, I can just reach in to open it. I'm such a clutz about locking my keys in the car. ugh.
thanks for sharing.

I've heard of that auto-locking feature before, and it sounded like a disaster waiting to happen. My '92 Grand Am locks when you put it into gear, so it's only annoying when I stop to let someone out briefly and when they try to get back in, the door is locked (if I've moved the car), and they know they didn't lock it! But even without a lot of newfangled features, everyone I know has been locked out of their cars so many times that I recommend always having the extra door key ON you at all times...and as an extra precaution, I will leave the door ajar if I'm just scraping windows.

Well, yet again I am gobsmacked with all the wonderful creations you come up with. Thanks you for sharing all of them with us. I only wish I had known about Papertrey years ago....their stamps just cover all possibilities. Thanks so much!
