Many of us are familiar with the bag-a-lope. It’s been around for a long time. It’s a personal favorite of mine because of its ease of use and quick creation time. I chose to put a twist on it by creating one that hangs from the door, gift bag…or is precious all on its own. The Treat-a-lope!
So grab your envelope, your favorite Papertrey Ink supplies, take a seat and create your very own with me today. J
The first thing I do is to seal the envelope. I then stamp my images onto the envelope. It's now time to score my prepared envelope. Score in ½ inches on each side. (Here is one that I had not stamped yet so you can see the score lines the Score Pal made it easy for me to do)
From this point I trim the top and bottom of the envelope to simply open it ...then I crease in the folds so that the side folds resemble a paper bag’s fold. Now… here is a key point… press the folded envelope down and trim with a decorative edge trimmer or scissors. (I used Marvy Uchida’s Scalloped edge blade in their Paper Trimming Buddy for this project) This will make the decorative edges line up on the sides significantly better than trimming it before the paper bag fold.
Here is what your envelope should look like at this point. When pressed flat, the scallops align in the front and the back!
The next step is to score across the bottom and fold the scored section over the front...with the envelope seam showing on the fold from the front. This fold is held into place by ribbon but you can add brads or eyelets instead.
Remember that initial score line of 1/2 inches? Well that is the width of this fantastic Perfect Match Twill. (Yes... You can create a wider score line to fit wider ribbon, you just lose width on the inside.) I slip the twill into that back fold and secure it with a brad. (you can use an eyelet too!) This enables a portion of the Treat-a-lope to open forward to hold the treats. Here is another view...
All you need to do now is add the focal image and embellish and your Treat-a-lope Party Favor is finished!
Imagine how many baby showers, Wedding showers and other fun parties that this can be adapted to! But, who needs a party to create? Make one for a friend using one of the many other Papertrey Ink stamp sets... Just because! It's will make their day!

Lisa, I fell in LOVE with this the moment I saw it! My dtr-in-law is having a shower in March (my 1st granddaughter is coming), and you know I'm casing your project. I did substitute S.U.Nursery Nec. set for the chick, & learned that the pallette ink doesn't look right on a bold rubber stamp. I ended up using P.in Pink craft, which looks good with the Aqua Mist. Thanks for your inspiration & great creativity!!!
