Welcome back, Friends! I hope that you all are having a lovely spring. I'm enjoying all the beautiful colors that are springing up.
I'm back again to share a guest post for my favorite company, my stamping home... MFT! I really love these new images and had a lot of fun creating with them.
One of my very favorite ways to add color to linear stamp images is Outline Coloring. I use a Copic Marker to outline the image on coordinating colored card stock, then tightly trim the image, and finally layer the trimmed image onto a white coordinating die cut that been stamped with the image.
Here is the sweet girl turtle from the Too-Cute Turtles stamp set. There are several layers on this final turtle image.
The head/neck, shell, and feet/body are all separate layers. The head/neck is the top layer and the shell is trimmed with part of the head section of the image still there. This photo shows the details.
When I use multiple layers with this technique I also like to line the outside of the image on the middle layer. It's nice to add some extra depth this way.
Here is another example of this technique with the sweet frog from the Toad-ally Awesome stamp set with just a single layer.
I also added a few decorative dots on the frog.
I really like Outline Coloring. I like coloring images 100% too, but this is a nice change. Give this technique a try. It's especially great if you are intimidated by coloring but really love linear images. (This card also uses Bold Blossoms stamp set and die-namics.)
Make sure to head over to the MFT Blog to see what's been going on over there and for a full supply list.
Let me know if you have any questions.
Thanks for poppying by, friends!
