I am excited to be a part of the Zva Creative DT! We are joining together today to share a Christmas or Holiday
Tag that we each created showcasing the beautiful products that Zva has to
offer. I am hoping that you will take some time to join us in a little bit of
fun!
The Blog Hop begins at Kim Hughes' blog: She is linking to one of the designers and that designer is linking
to the next and so on. There are 12 design team members, so be prepared to be
inspired along the way. Hidden on 5 of the blogs is a Zva Creative prize
package! Those blogs will be randomly chosen after the hop is over, so it's
important to leave a comment on as many blogs as you can. Our team is so
wonderfully diverse, so we are hoping that you will discover a talent that you
have not been aware of.
This Blog Hop runs through midnight on Tuesday,
December 8th and the 5 winners will be announced on Wednesday, December 9th. We
will do our best to notify each winner, but it's best if you can pop in to all
of the blogs once again on Wednesday...plus, you never know what kind of
inspirational creation that you may find there. All you need to do is leave a
comment on this Zva Blog Hop post...you do not need to leave a comment on each
and every designer's blog post to qualify. The more times you leave a comment
along the blog hop path though, the more chances you will have to be one of the
lucky winners.
Here is my little tag contribution to the hop!
A fun little fact about this tag is that I pulled a lit of the elements from my Scrap pile. I love peeking in there to wee what little extra's I have hiding. I just lucked out to have some great stamped papers to pull out! I used Copic markers to color the Crystal alphabet stickers.
The little Zva flowers are such a fun addition aren't they!
This photo shows the colors the best... for the Crystals that is!
Please hop on over to see the amazing Ingrid Danvers to continue the hop!
I'm so glad you all get a chance to win some Zva bling! I hope you will enter comments on as many of the team blogs as possible to up your chances to win!
Thanks for poppying by!

Just thought you'd want to know! :)
p.s. Have a great weekend my friends... and a great St. Nicholas day!

Ah yes... December 1st is here! Every month I am more surprised by how fast time flies... 2009 has gone by with super sonic speed! And guess what? Today is Papertrey Ink's Senior DT challenge! This is a great one too... Homemade ornaments!
Every year I make ornaments for my daughters.... they love it because they get to hang their own ornaments each year! I try to make something totally different than the year before. This year I thought It would be interesting to combine paint and glass with my Papertrey Goodies!
Here's the little ornament I came up with...
I purchased these semi-flat bulbs at Micheal's last year in their clearance sale... but I'm pretty sure they are a staple supply there are Christmas time. I used an antique White paint... that is really very dark with a tint of yellow. Next I stamped an image from Background Basics: Text Style using Vintage Cream ink. I lightly heat set it then applied some silver/black metallic chalk (Pebbles Inc) onto the script. The "Joy" Sentiment (From Holiday Button Bits) was then stamped in Noir ink. Next I stamped and trimmed two of the Holly leaves, in Ripe Avocado ink, from the set and adhered them next to three threaded Pure Poppy Buttons.
The last thing was adding a few faux pearl embellishments from Zva Creative. I used the circular one to help with the focal point. (I could have stamped a circle too... It was something I added last though) and the larger pearl to accent the lovely Pure Poppy Satin Ribbon. I wish my camera could have picked up how really elegant this is. :) Oh... and one last touch was to add some button Twine to the metal loop to hang in from. It's ready to give and use right away now!
What trimmings do you like to make during this season?
Make sure to check out the Other Senior DT projects. Nichole and Annabelle are also playing along!

"Thank you for such a heartfelt post. I live in NY. I am thankful for so much, but mostly for my family. You always hear that family is so important and everything. When I lost my husband when I was 40, I found that my sisters and family were what helped me make it through the dark times. I am still grieving but they make me feel loved and want to keep going day in and day out. I thank God for my family and consider myself lucky to have their love and support."
Winnie, Please post a comment to this post so I can email you (I'm having a hard time fining it in my "back room") and get your snail mail! I just know you are going to LOVE these sets! (Winner was chosen by random integer generator)November 29, 2009 at 08:31 PM | Permalink | Comments (6)
Smooches! That was my first thought when I first saw Papertrey Ink's new stamp set, Turning a New Leaf. Not just because I loved it but I thought that this fun technique would be perfect with the larger leaf images! Both types of kissing work perfectly with this set as well as so many more! Both types? Yep... there is getting kissed and giving a kiss in this technique. (So many valentines day applications here huh! heehee!) It's also a great way to get more bang for your buck!
Here we go!
First.... giving a kiss (Smoochin' LOL!). This smaller leaf stamp, clean, was pressed onto one of the diamond images from Background Basics: Diamonds. The result is that the diamond image is transferred to the leaf.
Next.... receiving a kiss. (gettin' smooched. heehee) The large leaf image
So here are the two main images that I inked. The Terracotta Tile inked leaf (1st) is showing the bare stamp lifting the print from the inked Diamond stamp (this stamp gave a "kiss" to an inked stamp.). The Spring Moss inked leaf (2nd) shows the leaf inked then the bare diamond stamp lifting off the ink. (this stamp received a "kiss" from a clean stamp.) Remember, you should use a solid and patterned
(of some sort) image together. You can use something like a large solid
circle image and pull off/add ink with a smaller solid image. You get more dramatic results with patterns though.
Here are the kissed images stamped on the cardstock... so pretty huh!
This also makes great patterned paper... so I made some with each image.
I made two cards with the papers and kissed leaves using the same elements... I just mixed up the layout a bit.
Notice how I worked in the diamond image on the Terracotta Tile strip. It just ties it all in so nicely.
I used Communique Curves Sentiments for both of the cards... great font play with this set!
These are really sweet in person... warm with a touch of fall too!
the duo together!
I just love Spring Moss with Terracotta Tile...especially with Vintage Cream and Kraft cardstock!
I hope I've given you a little start on getting to know this technique a little better... or refreshed your memory if you've been stamping for a while. :) There are so many Papertrey Ink images that would work great with it. Can you think of any? What stamps would you combine to create your own special look? Here are a few to consider...
The large image from Polka Dot Basics II and the smaller dots from the same set! (cute polka dotted dots!)
I can wait to see what ideas YOU share with us all!
I hope your Thanksgiving was wonderful. Make sure to check out my last post to enter to win On My Couch and On My Couch Additions! Thanks for poppying by!

There are so many things I have to be thankful for this year... I sat here today pondering that. One thing stands out to me... something that's hard to explain... but is very real here in my life as life's trials seem to have hit top speed...
HOPE!
It seems that if I really stop and think... hope surrounds me. And that is a huge comfort! I was in a situation the other day that could have been viewed two ways. One way was despair. I could have chosen to see the damage and pain that had happened... or see things in another way, which I did. (and that was hard to do to be honest.) I saw healing and growth in the rubble of it all... and with that, HOPE! A tweak in my perspective helped me not dwell on the trial itself, but the power in overcoming that trial and even the blessings that can be found amidst the storm. Like the newly emerged sapling on the healing forest floor after a fire has taken it's toll... Hope's perspective changes all things. Hope has inspired, lifted, awakened and strengthened me. I am looking for hope now in everyday things. I have been finding that a little seed of hope can give me the same effect if I allow it to make a home in my heart. Something simple like when Ella is brings me books to read to Me, instead of me to her. My seed of hope is planted and grows knowing that she will overcome her little struggle with reading. While that is an itty bitty struggle in the big scheme of things for us right now.... the hope in it accumulates like single snowflakes in a flurry of winter's first snow... aiding a beautiful blanket of change.
May you find hope when you need it. I am thankful for HOPE!
Now... on that note and with Thanksgiving right around the corner... I want to give a little something to you! One of you that is. :) I am extremely thankful for you... and with I could give one to everyone!
AND....
How to enter to win On My Couch and On My Couch additions? Post a comment on this post with these two things... What YOU are thankful for and what area of the world you live in.... and anything else you want to share is welcomed! Please play nice and only post one comment. Winner will be announced on Saturday, Nov. 28th. ETA: COMMENTS ARE NOW CLOSED. I will be posting the winner tomorrow... sorry I'm late... it's been a busy weekend! :)
Thanks for taking to time to read this loooong and very personal post... and for poppying by!

So many great images this month from Papertrey Ink... It was another easy to create month... so easy when you love what you use! Make sure to check out the sets in full! There are so many images and possibilities... very cool stuff!
Here is the card I created for Big & Bold wishes...
For Turning a New Leaf and Signature Greetings...
and last but not least my little Christmas Friends card...
You can find the supply lists in the PTI Gallery if needed. You can see I really enjoyed by PTI Buttons and Zva Bling this month! :)
I know this post is a bit tardy... I've been taking care of family stuff that has been more pressing than usual. Speaking off that... today is Ella's 7th Bday! Poor sweetie is home sick though. I'm planning on spoiling her by cuddling and watching movies all day.
I've got another post in a few days that's super fun... see you then! Thanks for poppying by!

How fun that we get to play this month with so many fun new Papertrey Ink goodies... and share them early with you! Lauren has come up with a fantastic home template that is just filled with possibilities... AND Nichole has created a complementary set that is so warm and inviting! I've already had something picked up for an upcoming special issue publication using her images from Home Made! Both template and stamps will be available on Nov. 15th at Papertrey Ink.
Here is a sneak peek of my contribution using the Home Made Template.... You can find the supply list/instructions as well as additional photos in the download that comes with this template when it goes up for sale on Nov. 15 through Papertrey.
A warm and cozy log cabin! That was my first thought when I spied this friendly template. I couldn’t wait to play! It was fun to create little score lines for the faux log appearance and find ways to bring warmth and whimsy to the project. Check out my screen door, Bling flowers and sweet snail! So cute! I wanted to keep this fairly simple... like a northwest cabin. :) I did something very creative with the roof too... you'll have to check it out in the download!
Here is a fun little coordinating card using some of the same elements.
Notice the marker lines to lowlight the faux logs. SO FUN!
I also did some creative scoring on the bottom scalloped element. It's a nice way to add a little weight and texture.
So what fun Little building can you see yourself making with these amazing products? I think I'm going to make one for Ella to hold her little treasures. But, I will make it FRILLY! She's turning 7 next week so I I've got some creating to do!
Make sure to check out the other PTI team projects (In the side bar -----> ) They are SO amazing and full of inspiration!
Make sure to head over to the Papertrey Ink forum for the release party on the 14th at 9pm EST.
Thanks for poppying by!

It's that time of the month again... I'm guessing that most of you have been following the Papertrey Ink countdown to the November Release! (happening Nov 15th) If not make sure to check Nichole's blog to get the tour started! There are so many exciting sets this month!
So....are you ready for some fun cards??? Today is the first of two group posts that the Papertrey Team have created for you. It's so fun t be a part of this group and I just love playing with these awesome stamps! Anyone who reads my blog may have notice my love of circles... well, Alli has created a set that it just perfect for you fellow curve lovers. Communique Curves!
First... a Christmas card. This set is primarily a holiday set with a plethora of possibilities.
Classic Alli urban style images fill up this curvy set. I ADORE the font choices and combinations.
How cute are these swatchy ornaments... and she includes a dot row to hang them from. You can also spy the new BG set Nichole designed this month on these cards. :) Such a great set too!
Here is a fun twist using the mini sentiment set that will available. Nothing like a $5 mini set to stretch your image dollar huh!
I switched some elements up here.... while using the same basic concept.
The ornament is turned upside down to resemble a vase. (Hannah is taking pottery in HS so that inspired this thought)
I wanted this card to feel a little elegant so I used a string of pearls to trim the luxurious Ocean Tides satin ribbon. Touches of Lemon tart just make everything pop! (Isn't that a great color combo?)
So here's a trick when trying to get your creative brain to step out of the box. turn your stamps in many directions to see a different perspective. You will be SO surprised to find how many cools ideas will pop into your head!
Make sure to check out the other DT member blogs (----> check in my sidebar for the PTI team) Tomorrow will be another great post... see you all then. Thanks for poppying by!
p.s. thanks to all who left such kind comments on the PC blog about my spotlight. I definably felt the love my pals!

Today I'm going to share a little card that I created using Holiday Button Bits for the Moxie Fab Blog and Papertrey Ink. It's Moxie Fab's Blog anniversary and it's so fun to celebrate with them! Make sure to click over to see all of the other fab creations! Happy Day to CATH!!!
I just had to break open my pack of Pine's new Rustic Snowflakes patterned paper for this card. I love the distressed touches and color combinations she chose.
Holiday Button Bits is so fun to play with. I thought I would create a whimsical card using this little snowman image. Isn't he adorable! You just cant go wrong when buttons are involved! Note the accent buttons contrast with the snowman. :)
Hope you are having a great Monday. It's busy bee time here with kids and design assignments. So glad you took the time to visit today.... thanks for poppying by!

Happy November! This months Papertrey Ink Senior DT challenge is all about family, photo's and sharing. As December draws close I start to think of those I've lost touch with. Christmas time is a great time to catch up and share a little about the past year. One way is to slip a photo into your card... but that can get old. This fun card is like getting a little present... with a surprise inside!
Doesn't it look like a little present?
I love making something old new again. 2008 Holiday Tag is such a great collection.. these doves are just adorable. I also pulled in last years holiday paper, Holiday Vintage Prints along with this year's Holiday cheer paper. The patterns really complement each other.
I'm really enjoying embellishments lately... Buttons, Crystals, Self adhesive pearls... so many fun things out there. I highlighted Papertrey Ink's Vintage buttons in this card. I love how each bag is filled with little surprise buttons... unexpected gems that are so unique!
The inside has a handy dandy pocket that holds a photo. I haven't had time to snap the official Johnson family Christmas photo yet... so our family vacation photo is the place holder!
What's nice about this design is that you still get two cards out of one sheet of cardstock! I trimmed it in half to make it 4.25 x 11 inches. then score it to 4.25, fold, score again at 4.25. This will have created the card base with the little excess flap of about 2.5 inches. I then used a circle punch to create the notch and some sticky tape to secure it closed on the top and bottom. (make sure to stamp it first though) Now... you could alternately slip in a folded family newsletter and/or a gift card. This is defiantly a mass producible design that you can make simpler by omitting the extra buttons.
I do have a question for you all... What colors are you choosing for your Christmas/Holiday cards this year? I'm really interested in hearing whatcha got in mind!
Make sure to visit Nichole's and the other Sr. DT blogs as well as Anabelle's!
Thanks for poppying by!

Only 4 more days until Halloween... do you have your treats ready? I'm still debating what I'm taking to my girls harvest parties at school. I have some fun ideas from boo days past... and there are so many resources out there... it's going to be a great day!
AND... don't forget to enter a comment over at the Papercrafts Connection Blog, where they did a Wicked spotlight on me yesterday, to have a chance to win a great prize. They give GREAT PRIZES TOO!
So...Sunday we came home from church and had been Boo'd, which is a cute little anonymous little gift giving game. Now out family needs to boo someone. Here's the little box that is going to hold out booriffic treats!
So, All the supplies used are from Papertrey Ink. I'm a huge fan of Gable boxes, especially for baked goods and heavier goodies. The Borders & Corners {Circles} set is great for framing sentiments, like this one from the Boo to You set! And how cute is that little ghost from the 2009 Halloween Tags set??!! so bitty boo-ish! One fun thing I did with the boo tag is to sponge the edges with a clean dry sponge while the Orange Zest ink was still wet... spreading the joy so to speak. Sweet huh! Did you notice the dotted stripe circles I used to break up the Black polka dot paper? Those dots are from Journaling lines... an invaluable stamp in my opinion! I know this sounds strange but I like to add seemingly masculine touches to projects. Those black button on the dotted circles remind me of a suit cuff. I think it's a bit of a classy touch. Fun contrast with that Orange Zest Ribbon too.
I'm a busy bee today, working on some design for an upcoming magazine issue... and taxi-ing kids to Activities in general. It's gonna be a Pizza night! Love those! What's your go to take out when life gets Crazy Busy?
don't forget to comment over at the PC blog.... great prizes! Thanks for poppying by!

Warning: Many Candy Corn's were consumed in the making of this post!
LOL! Can you believe it's almost Halloween?!?! Are YOU ready? I'm getting there... and trying not to wipe out the candy stash before the big day. Success? I think not! LOL!
Oh! If you are a new visitor to my blog via Papercrafts Connection today... WELCOME! (hugs to my regular friends as well) And... a big thank you to Kelly at Papercrafts Magazine for spotlighting me today. I feel deeply honored! Today I thought I would share one of the fun projects that they are showcasing over there. (I have two over there... but will blog about the other tomorrow!)Oh, and make sure to post a comment over there to enter to win something fun!
I really do love Halloween! I love the bold colors and kitsch decor that fill homes and stores. There is such whimsy to it all! I was looking for that feeling when I created this card. I used some fun new paper I was sent to create this 5x5 inch card. Oh boy do I love Argyle! It's become so hot again! :) Who would have thought that circles wold look so great with Argyle! (Marvy punches are the best huh!)
I used Doodlebug Paper, ribbon, gems and stickers (I know, I'm not normally a sticker gal... but hey, I was playin' and it was fun!) It was great to put my mad designer's lab coat on with this fun group of products. Did you spy the AWESOME Papertrey Ink stamps??? I can't make something without them, can I?! I used the 2009 Halloween Tags Boo tag as well as the small dots row from Polka Dots Basics II. Papertrey has the best black ink on the market in my opinion... True Black. It has such coverage and really pops out stamped images! (on a photography note... HOW cool is that blustery rain on my window?! Sooo ghoulish!)
On a more personal note... we are officially mended and everyone will be in School today! Yippee! Thanks for the thoughts, prayers and well wishes! I'm really looking forward to seeing their bright smiles when the hop off the bus... leaves swirling around their feet... It's time to enjoy fall!
Thanks for poppying by my friends! See you tomorrow...

I thought I would share a project today I made a little ways back using some new punches recently released by Marvy... you might also spy these in an upcoming Ad. :)
One punch that I used has a Christmas Tree, Candy Cane, Dove, Star and Snowman... it's pretty fun. A lot of bang for the buck so to speak! Here is the Tree and Star. You can find it here... Multi-shape Christmas Set.
I used Papertrey Inks Text Style, Borders & Corners Circles, Polka Dots Basics and Silent Night to create the stamped images. I thought that combining the Bitty Boxes and Bitty Stars (Also Papertrey Ink) was really Christmassy.
Here is the little snowman... just simple Ripe Avocado, Smoky Shadow and White cardstock here. I found these little snowflake sequins last year and thought they worked great here.
Those are two of the Extra Jumbo (yellow) scalloped rectangle punch outs that I just adhered together for the base. Nothing fancy... but fun!
Here's the finished ensemble. Sweet and simple! Easy enough to mass produce but still exciting and fun. (btw, the Giga Scalloped circle punch is used too, as well as the paper trimming buddy with the scalloped blade)
So what are you doing today??? I've got half my family home with the flu... No... not H1N1 that we know of but there have been reported cases at their High School.. so I'm a bit cautious. Seems that this past month has had us up to the nines in sickness...freakin' beans batman. Hannah turned 15 on Saturday and was SUPER sick... poor kiddo. we had to change all the plans and shift everything around... I put a makeshift family party together... the grand Shopping day will have to wait for a few weeks, so it seems. During all this I've been trying to find and maintain some mo-jo for stamp illustrations for next years submissions. (they are due this week) At one time this weekend I just busted out laughing...I mean a girl can only do so much and I was feeling a bit like stretch Armstrong, LOL! So I closed my laptop, put on a movie and snuggled my girls. The tissue box and Emergen-C were passed around and we all rested. Ahhh... it was much needed and appreciated! I hope you all are staying well in this crazy, early flu season!
Ok... I'm off to take care of the babes... so glad you popped by!

It's been such a busy week of fun and sharing... I have two more projects from this month's Papertrey Ink release to share with you.... Make sure to hop around to the other DT members... they are just ON FIRE, creatively speaking or course! LOL!
Pine's new Holiday tree set... so rustically delish!
I love how the buckle looking strip turned out. Don't you love all the glam too?!?!
Here's my contribution using Dawn's new set, Vintage Ornaments! So nostalgic huh!
It makes me thing of having late night toast and hot cocoa for some reason. LOL!
I had fun creating both these lovelies! Check the PTI gallery for the supply lists.
Just a little reminder... I've been answering questions in the comment section directly. (unless it's something major that requires a post to be edited. So check back in the comment for your answers my friends! :)
I'm off to bed and hopefully a good nights rest... I've got some special stamping and illustrating t do tomorrow! Wish me luck!

Aren't you excited! One extra Papertrey Ink group post for this month's release! It's just a blast to see what everyone makes isn't it! Wasn't yesterday inspiring with all the amazing notepads! I truly feel blessed and amazed to be a part of such a talented group of ladies! WOW!
So...We were all challenged to create 5 cards of one simple design...I instantly knew I wanted to use the Holly image from Holiday Button Bits (available Oct. 15th through Papertrey Ink) it's cool how HUGE it is... take up a good amount of space while still allowing for white space... So fun! (and yes... I can create using traditional Christmas colors Ladies and Gents! LOL!)
I've been tying a lot of bows lately so I thought I would try a little ribbon knot to shake things up a bit.
You could definitely spruce this up even more by threading the buttons. I chose not to because I wanted to keep it real for you all. Lets be honest... if I'm personally making a boat load of these babies there is no way I will have the time to hand tread that many buttons. Now... if I weren't wrangling my four girls I would take that extra step... I think it would be a great touch!
Here is the download for you if you want to create these for yourself!
I must saw I'm in AWE of Nichole's graphics in this file... she is so amazing!
I hope you take the time to visit the other DT blogs... it's such a tour of inspiration!
Just think... the release party is just a few hours away! I hope you will stop in and say hi!
Thanks for poppying by!

I recently spied a fantastic purse that I just HAD to have! I was so excited to create a little notebook to carry inside... for all the everyday needs. I wanted something elegant... reflective of that awesome new accessory! It was so easy to create this little tidbit for today's Papertrey Ink Group post!
I love the way that Nichole sized the images in this new set... Take Note (available Oct 15th) to fit perfectly on the little note pads. (This is a collaborative set... conceptualized by Mish Wooderson herself... brilliant notepad queen extraordinaire! See Nichole blog post for the full scoop.) See how the word "notes" is just the right size! SO useful! Check out the mini damask image that is included. I spied it after I stamped my Giga Guide Lines paper (as seen in yesterday's post). Adding little touches like that just ties everything together so well! BTW... I love how pretty Enchanted Evening ink looks on Soft Stone cardstock. so modern and inviting.
Here is a photo with my kickin' new purse!
Make sure to keep clickin' and check out the other DT member blogs! We all created such unique notepads... you'll be giddy!
There will be another group post tomorrow... stay tuned friends... it just gets better!!!

Bring it on... and bring it BIG!!! That's my Chocolate philosophy... and it fits so well for today's sneak peek too!!! I'm excited to help introduce Giga Guide Line today! (available from Papertrey Ink on October 15th.) Yes... it includes some of the icons from the two Guide Lines sets... on steroids serious vitamins! Heehee. I just love them... so easy to use and create with! There is just something special about creating your own patterned paper... choosing your own colors. SO personal! Here's a little Christmas ditty showing how fun it is...
I actually created a few project this month with this paper... you will see a snippet of it in tomorrow's post. I just got stamping and couldn't stop... so I just HAD to make more projects, RIGHT!?
Now... check out that fun Christmas tag focal image. If you look reeeeeealy close you can see how I use the same Giga image as a background on the tag using the lighter, Spring Rain, blue. It's a PERFECT FIT! I love that kind of happy coordination! I'm going to play with the rest of the tags in the set and the Giga images to see how many combinations I can come up with!
You can also spy the sentiment from Heather's new set as well as the new Text Style II stamp set! I just love the finished card... and I have a PERFECT home for it to go to come mailing day. Giddy!
Have you started your Christmas cards yet???
